Samsung and LG TVs commonly show a similar set of screen problems, including black screens, flickering, vertical or horizontal lines, color distortion, and dead pixels. Black screen or no picture
A black screen is one of the most common complaints on both Samsung and LG sets. Sometimes the TV still has sound, which usually points to a backlight, power board, or signal-processing issue instead of a completely dead panel.
Flickering or dim display
Flickering often appears as a screen that brightens and dims, flashes repeatedly, or looks unstable. This can happen because of loose cables, failing LED backlights, T-Con board problems, or power supply issues.
Lines across the screen

Dead pixels and dark spots
Dead pixels appear as tiny black or colored dots that do not change with the rest of the image. Dark blotches or clouding may also come from localized backlight problems, screen pressure, or panel wear, especially on larger displays.
Ghosting and image retention
Some TVs may show a faint duplicate image, trail, or shadow behind moving objects. This is more common in display-related faults and, on OLED models, can also be linked to image retention or panel degradation.

Before assuming the panel is damaged, it helps to test the TV with a different HDMI cable, another source device, or the TV’s built-in picture test. Samsung support recommends running self-diagnosis and picture tests, and if the image works in some setups but not others, the issue may be external rather than inside the TV. LG sets use similar troubleshooting logic, where software, input, or cable checks come before hardware replacement.
