What You Will Need
- Replacement vibrator unit (model-specific)
- Precision screwdrivers
- Plastic pry tools and spudger
- Tweezers
Step 1 — Test Before Opening
Confirm the vibrator is truly failed and not simply disabled. On Android, go to Settings → Sounds and Vibration → Vibration Pattern and select any pattern to trigger a test. On iOS, toggle the ring/silent switch and confirm no vibration occurs.
Step 2 — Open the Chassis
Power off, apply heat to rear panel adhesive, pry open with plastic tools, and disconnect the battery. Locate the vibrator — it is usually a small cylindrical motor near the base or top corner of the device.
Step 3 — Remove the Faulty Vibrator
Disconnect the vibrator's flex cable. Remove any retaining clip or adhesive. Lift the unit out of its housing. Note the orientation of the cable routing for correct reinstallation.
Step 4 — Install the Replacement
Place the new vibrator into its housing, route the flex cable along the original path to avoid pinching under other components, and reconnect it to the motherboard or charging board.
Step 5 — Confirm and Seal
Power on, trigger test vibrations, and confirm consistent and appropriately strong feedback. Reassemble the rear cover, pressing the edges firmly to reseat the adhesive seal.
