A touchscreen assembly combines the LCD display and the digitizer into a single bonded unit. When your phone suffers both display damage and touch failure after a drop, replacing the full assembly is faster and more reliable than attempting to separate and replace individual layers.

What You Will Need

  • Replacement touchscreen assembly (LCD + digitizer, model-specific)
  • Suction cup and plastic pry tools
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and Pentalobe)
  • Heat gun or hairdryer
  • Tweezers and spudger
  • Isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth
  • Adhesive strips

Step 1 — Power Off and Prepare the Workspace

Power the phone off completely. Remove the SIM tray. Work on a clean, well-lit surface and keep screws organised in a magnetic tray or labelled sections. Wear an anti-static wrist strap throughout.

Step 2 — Apply Heat and Open the Device

Heat the screen edges for 60–90 seconds to soften adhesive. Attach the suction cup to the lower portion of the screen, pull up gently, and insert a plastic pry tool into the gap. Slide around all four edges to fully release the screen from the chassis. On some phones, the back panel opens first — check a model-specific guide before proceeding.

Step 3 — Remove the Old Assembly

With the screen lifted, unscrew any metal brackets covering the flex connectors. Disconnect the LCD and digitizer ribbon cables carefully, pulling each connector straight up. Set the old assembly aside.

Step 4 — Transfer Peripheral Components

Move any parts attached to the old assembly — earpiece speaker, front camera, proximity sensor bracket, or home button — to the new assembly. These are usually held by small clips or a single screw. Take care not to bend or tear any attached flex cables.

Step 5 — Install the New Assembly

Connect the new assembly's flex cables to the motherboard. Press each connector firmly until it clicks into place and replace the bracket screws. Power on briefly to test display and touch before sealing.

Step 6 — Seal and Cure

Power off, apply fresh adhesive strips around the chassis frame, lower the assembly into place, and press evenly around all edges. Allow 30 minutes for the adhesive to set before resuming normal use.
