Brackets are the small metal retaining clips and shields inside a smartphone that hold components in place, protect connectors from mechanical stress, and in some designs provide EMI (electromagnetic interference) shielding over sensitive circuits. They are frequently damaged during repairs and missing brackets are a common source of intermittent faults.
Types of Brackets
Connector brackets — small metal plates that screw down over display, battery, and camera connector sockets — prevent the connectors from lifting during the phone's use. Without these brackets, repeated insertion and removal of connector flex cables eventually causes the socket to unseat from the board or the latch to fail.
